Miscellaneous Joys

HAPPY DECEMBER FAMILY AND FRIENDS!

Sooooo lately I've been playing Deloris a ton-- five times in a row just this week! It's a dream come true. Definitely a lot of work and an indescribable amount of concentration (I mean, just try to entertain a couple thousand people in perfect German for three hours). But I belong to a lucky minority that does something for a living that they would actually do for free. (Keep that bewteen us though. I've got bills to pay;))

So imagine my shock and joy when after three hours of just doing my job, I walk onstage to take my bow and THIS lands at my feet...

THE longest stemmed roses I have ever seen in my life!!! Some wonderful audience member that I've never met in my life tossed them from the first row (over the orchestra pit, mind you) onstage to me. Heaven only knows what my bow looked like after that!

I mean, these things are monstrous! The photo is deceptive. I'm actually quite tall-- 5'9''-- and they are well above my hips. I had to put them in the bathtub over night because I had no vase large enough! I'm a classy gal.

Unbelievable once in a lifetime experience, right? Nope.

Two weeks later...
These people are something else!! This time it came with a little Christmas card that doubles as an advent calendar. Thank you so much!!! I don't know how else to show my gratitude other than to post it various places online and hope that it reaches these generous theater goers.

In other news, we hosted Thanksgiving again! This time we invited all the good folks down at the convent for a time of good food and "Dankbarkeit" (You guessed it, "Gratefulness":))

Waiting for everyone to arrive

This is not a turkey. It's also not a "tofurkey." It's a chicken that I zoomed in on to make my picture look more Thanksgivingy:). Let me explain: Yes, we are still on the vegan-train. However I think it's just not right to invite a group of people over, none of which have ever celebrated Thanksgiving before, and then NOT serve a bird. It's downright unamerican! So we decided to make a peewee bird -- a "churkey", if you will--for the carnivores so that none of it would be left over when everyone went home. No, we did not partake of the "churkey".

The Spread!

The desserts! Most everything prepared by hubby-extraordinaire

Fresh baked bread

Everything was labeled because, for our guests, almost everything was foreign food!

Glühwein is traditional German Christmas-fare. Mulled wine with cinnamon and citrus. Mmmm!

We only have one day off per week, but lots of the Sister Act crew came out to celebrate with us on their free day. Our friend, Maike (pron. MY-kah), in the blue V-neck above actually had a root canal that morning and came over to play anyway!:)

Packing food for the road

All done!

Hooray! Thanksgiving was a success. And we are happily looking forward to celebrating our Saviour's birth! God has blessed us way more than we could ask, think or imagine. And He continues to do so! I hope you are having a wondrous and blessed Christmas season, filled with friends, family and other miscellaneous joys.

Repeat, repeat the sounding JOY!

I so very much love the thought of you sharing Thanksgiving with others. It truly is a great American Holiday. And I CAN NOT believe that you made all those things in less than a day!!!! Oh my goodness!
