SEEING STARS!

Hi family and friends!

It's been quite a while and a whooole lot has happened. So, I'm going to do my very best to catch you up!

Vienna is beeeeautiful this time of year! It's finally warm out and this Miami girl is LOVING it! Sister Act is still going wonderfully well! Hubby and I are just so blessed to get to work together on such an outstanding and successful musical. We got to work together on another very successful piece in March when SISTER ACT took an 8-day break for Easter.

We were part of a concert version of Andrew Lloyd Webber's rock opera, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR. We had a blast! The orchestra was onstage with us and they rocked every single night.

This February, I did something I have never, ever done before: I entered a contest! Star NYC composer, Scott Alan announced his "I'm A Star" Contest in January. I didn't really have time to enter right away but I did finish my submission just before the deadline in mid February.
I sang a song written by Scott Alan with a little twist! To view my submission video click, HERE :)

Long before I heard anything back from the contest itself, I got an overwhelming response from friends and strangers about the video! 10 days after I posted I had over 2000 views! (I took pics because I was just so excited:))

A week or so later, I was nearing 3000 views!
To date, the video is nearing 4,000 views! thank you so much for watching it and for sharing it with your friends!!

I soon got the happy news that I was chosen by Scott Alan and his group of judges (all Broadway performers, by the way!) as one of the Top 14 Finalists for the "I'm A Star" Contest. All of the Finalists were so, so talented and what's more-- they are all so gracious and lovely. Everyone was (and is!) supportive of everyone one else--- just the way it should be!

It was such an indescribable experience. Suddenly mentors and strangers, as well as people I have been seeing on Broadway and television for years began to write me via twitter to say that they enjoyed my video! My loving husband had the pleasure of listening to me constantly squealing "Eeeeeeeeee! 'So and so' just tweeted me!"

I also got to see my name appear on playbill.com for the first time! What a thrill! Well, on April 1st the winner of the contest was announced and as much as I wanted it to be me, it wasn't. Although, I was excited for the winner (Alexander Sage Oyen!) I was of course disappointed too... but not for long! Two days later I received an email from Scott inviting all of the Finalists to come to NYC and join Broadway and the West End's finest to participate in his concert and LIVE album recording at historic Birdland Jazz Club!!! Dream. Come. True.

SO, I packed my bags and headed for NEW YORK CITY!!!

Guess who met me there?!! WHAT A BLESSING!!!!:)

 Now For The Main Event!

Rehearsal with the man himself: SCOTT ALAN!

The concerts! Scott lined up a host of Musical Thetare's finest, from Broadway and film, to the West End and beyond, for his new album Scott Alan - LIVE. I am so, so honored to have been part of it. There were greats like, Liz Callaway, Jane Monheit, Lea Salonga and the list goes on and on.

PLAYBILL was there to take pics at the event. You can see photos of the stars HERE! I was even lucky enough to have a photo on there as well!

I'm no photographer but these are the shots I took on the day of the concerts :)

Recording artist and all around great guy, Marc Broussard! In case, you missed it, I posted some videos on my Facebook of Marc singing for all the performers just before the first show. Definitely worth watching!

The brilliant, Natalie Weiss! (Les Mis, Everyday Rapture, Wicked, American Idol...) Check her out on YouTube-- so gifted!

Tracie Thoms (RENT flim and Broadway, The Devil wears Prada...) SO excited to meet her!

MICHAEL BUCKLEY!! (Celebrity Vlogger & YouTube sensation: "What The Buck?") Even more delightful than he is online!

The lovely, Jenna Leigh Green (Wicked- Nessa AND Elphaba...) was one of the judges! I miiight have freaked out a little when I realized she was Libby from Sabrina The Teenage Witch!

Julia Murney (Star of Wicked, The Wild Party...)! Last time I was in New York, I saw her as Elphaba and have been a fan ever since!

Mykal Kilgore (HAIR) is truly one of the most gifted vocalists I have ever known. We went to FSU together! So great to meet up with him again-- and hear him sing! Just WAIT until the CD comes out!!

Sid, Mykal and Camille ("I'm A Star" Finalist) representing Florida State at the Scott Alan concert! GO NOLES!

Beautiful "I'm A Star" FInalist, Stefani Wood!

If you've never heard of the group PENTATONIX (Winners on NBC's " The Sing Off") do yourself a favor and check them out! A Capella at it's finest!

I met Ariel! Ladies and Gents, the ridiculously gorgeous Sierra Boggess (The Little Mermaid, Phantom, Love Never Dies...). Such a treat to meet such a lovely person and talented artist!

Joined by two of my fabulous fellow finalists: Heather Traska and Mindy Pack!

In case you hadn't heard, there is a woman who originated the role of Elphaba (Wicked) in TWO different countries/languages! ;) Have looooved her work for a long time: Willemijn Verkaik (Wicked- Germany, Wicked- Holland, We Will Rock You, Aida...)

The I'm A Star Finalists joined by Willemijn Verkaik, Scott Alan and LEA SALONGA (voice of Princess Jasimine in Aladdin, Voice of Mulan, Kim in Miss Saigon...)
If we are friends on facebook, check out my video of Lea backstage singing "A Whole New World" as a birthday gift to Marc Broussrad's adorable little daughter. It was truly one of the sweetest moments of my trip!:)

I couldn't possibly leave NYC without making a pit stop at the convent ;)

It was a whirlwind 5 days and I haven't even begun to cover it. I have to say that as much as I try to work hard and be the best that I can be, I know that opportunities like this are 100% a gift from God. Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined or orchestrated a gift like this and I am so grateful.
Grateful to see my Mom again after almost a year, grateful to be recognized among such a group of tremendous artists, grateful for the precious friends that I haven't seen in years that went out of their way to meet up with me and support me at the concerts (Thank you Nick, Brent, Dave, Wes, Haley, Lynn, Jason, Abby, Jonathan, Lena), grateful to meet artists that I look up to face-to-face and find that they are just as kind as they are talented. Thank You God.
So, dear family and friends, I miss you and I love you. I hope my ramblings find you healthly and walking in the knowledge that you are LOVED (not just by me, but by the Creator of the universe!!) Drop me line sometime and let me know how it's going. I would love to hear from you!
