BIG news!
While in Germany, I was presented with an awesome opportunity to make connections with the largest casting company in all of Europe: Stage Entertainment! Stage Entertainment (SE) is in the heart of Hamburg which is, quite frankly, the NYC of Germany. SE casts Broadway-scale shows, such as The Lion King, AIDA, Wicked, Dirty Dancing and Mamma Mia, to run all over Europe and America (ie: Hamburg, Leipzig, Berlin, London and New York City.)
I participated in an mock-audition with SE and I had the great fortune to be seen by the head casting director who called me back for The Lion King (!!). The callback went well and even though I wasn't ultimately cast (this time!;)), I did receive a fantastic offer-- an invitation to be the first American student to study at Stage Entertainment's adjoining Musical Theatre Conservatory, Joop Van Dan Ende Academy.
The academy sees about 400 auditionees a year and chooses a class of 10 anually. Many of these students go on to work in major productions all over Europe. Crazily enough, just before I showed up, a single female slot became vacant, and though they reviewed all the applicants, they didn't think any of those four HUNDRED people met their criteria (???!!) Also, they only take new students up to age 25, and since I just celebrated my 25th birthday in July, I know that I cannot pass up this opportunity to work one-on-one with the foremost MT program and most influential casting agency in Europe.
God has pretty much flung the door wide open! We still have TONS to do/sell/pack before we leave on the 25th. But, I am so stoked for this adventure.
Bis Spater!
